TGIF! I hate to waste a perfectly good blog post on complaining, but wow – I feel like I’ve been working flat out since eight am on Monday morning and still haven’t actually accomplished anything. Suffice it to say that it’s been a long week. There were moments when, even though I knew a long weekend was just around the corner, it felt like there was no end in sight. I swear, sometimes short weeks are the longest.
The good news is, it’s officially Friday – and a holiday Friday, too. We have lots of silly Easter plans, including a Cadbury mini egg milkshake-making adventure with Topher later today. (I actually can’t remember the last time I had a milkshake of any kind, and I’m a great fan of Cadbury mini eggs, so I’m pretty excited.)
Beyond that, I’m hoping – really hoping – for a bit of actual downtime. This week, while out with a girlfriend, I found myself listing all the things I have on the go; a full-time job, freelance work, Coco & Vera… plus finishing the second edition of my first novel and the first edition of my second (both of which are coming out this year) while working on the first draft of my third novel. Oh, and I still exercise five days a week. And try to see my friends. “Basically,” I summed up, “I’ve way over-committed.” When I heard myself say it all out loud, I realised why I’m always so tired.
But the thing is, I want to do all of those things. I love (almost all of) what I do so much that it’s rare I stop for a breather. It’s hard to tear yourself away from projects you’re passionate about. Still, sometimes, something has to give. I’m due for a break. This weekend, I’m going to take one.
I think.
…but don’t quote me on that.
Whatever your plans, and however they may actually turn out, I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!
I hope you get a bit of down time and have a relaxing long weekend! I’m dreading this weekend a bit (big family dinner to host, tons of errands to run, and a bunch of new furniture to assemble so it’s definitely not going to be a relaxing time!). And, side note, your blazer is really stunning. I love that piece!

Aww sounds like a long week – but you have to remember to make time for yourself. I recently got quite burnt out because of all my commitments and my inability to say no, so I’m not just trying to put myself first – you should do the same!
I hope you did decide to give yourself a break this weekend! I have never been the kind of person who can do it all, or even try to do it all. Even if it’s something that I want to do, if I put too much on my plate, I’ll only end up resenting the commitment. It’s a delicate balance, because I’m miserable if I spend a day doing nothing as well.
And I do hope you will share how that milkshake came out!
Hope you had a great Easter Cee! That Cadbury milkshake sounds delicious.

OBSESSED with this outfit Cee. It’s stunning head-to-toe!! And especially taken with the pop of whiskey… a colour I haven’t leaned on a lot, but hoping to for this spring. It used to be all I wore!! Hope you had a wonderful Easter, we relaxed a lot, hope you did too, and phew, you have so much on the go!! I’m always impressed by how well you handle it all. Lately, I can’t seem to do more than two things before having a melt-down. LOL! xo
