(I can’t believe that I am technically quoting myself in this space. But an idea came to me the other morning and I quickly typed it out as an Instagram caption. The accuracy of it has stayed with me since. The idea isn’t particularly original, but the way of expressing it is my own, so here it is again, for those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram yet…)
They say what isn’t meant for you won’t come to you – and that’s true. You can’t force yourself into spaces you weren’t meant to fit. If you find yourself holding on tightly to something, struggling to keep it, it might be wise to pause, reflect and consider if it really belongs to you.
What they don’t tell you, when they say these things, is that some of the things that come to you, the ones that are meant for you, will be hard and burdensome and simply awful. That is how they are meant to be, because they are meant to teach you and help you grow. Everything that’s meant for you will come to you, but it won’t all be beautiful. Some of it, you may wish you could return. But that’s the point. There is a whole life that is meant for each of us, a range of experiences that encompasses joy, fear, suffering, wonder and vastly more. Some things we desire deeply may not be part of that life. But there are other parts of it that will exceed everything we could have imagined.
We can’t force any of it to happen. We can make choices, understanding and accepting their potential consequences, knowing there are some we might never guess until they happen. If you’re chasing after something you can’t catch, this is a gentle reminder to stop running. It probably wasn’t meant for you – and if you keep running, you may miss something important along the way.
I absolutely adore this all black Outfit !!

I definitely need a reminder to stop running from things – mostly as I age I’m getting better at embracing the unpleasant things but sometimes it still remains a challenge. Unrelatedly, I truly love your blazer. I have several Wilfred jackets and they are really great pieces.

Happy Holidays, Cee!!! Looking forward to a diet Coke cheers sometime in the New Year. Haha!! LOVE this look & yesss loved your Instagram caption – definitely made me pause / think. It’s so true, not all things that are meant for us are easy, but ultimately, it’s how we grow. Though, let’s hope 2022 has easier times in sight – because I’m sooo tired. Haha!! xo
