I grew up on pink lip gloss. In my twenties, was utterly obsessed with Lancome’s Juicy Tubes glosses – and the glitterier they were, the better. To say that my taste in lip products as changed over the years is putting it mildly. But while I avoid glitter at all costs these days, I still prefer lipsticks and glosses that apply smoothly, with minimal fuss. And my go-to shade is still pink, although I lean towards more nude-pink hues these days. I like lipsticks I can throw in my bag to apply on the go. And I’ve tried more than I can count, not in search of a holy grail but because I like variety. Unexpectedly, in the past year, I’ve stumbled upon a favourite formula: Rouge Coco Flash from CHANEL.
What it is: A buttery lipstick formula that melts into the lips when applied, including natural ingredients like mimosa, jojoba and sunflower, that moisturize and nourish the lips. Rouge Coco Flash also offers high shine and vibrant, buildable colour that goes on in a soft wash.
What to do with it: Apply liberally to the lips, as often as you like. Start with a single stroke for an effortless wash of colour, then add layers to build the depth and vibrance of the hue.
What it costs: $46 for a 3 g tube at The Bay
Why it’s fabulous: I currently own three shades of Rouge Coco Flash – Boy (54), Dominant (106) and Noir Moderne (102). The formula is consistent from shade to shade; Boy is the lightest nude pink, while Noir Moderne is an intense berry colour and Dominant falls somewhere in between. That means I know what to expect no matter which tube I open. But each shade is totally unique. I wear Boy everyday, when I’m running to the grocery store or meeting Topher for sushi. Dominant is perfect for a Friday night wine date or to add a bit of Parisian style to an everyday look. As for Noir Moderne – it definitely makes a statement, but in the best possible way. And, unlike with most truly bold lip colours, I can still apply it in a hurry without worrying I’ll colour way outside my lip lines.
Whatever you want in a lipstick, there is a shade of Rouge Coco Flash you’ll love.
You’ve inspired me to buy another one 😊
I’ve been obsessed with Color Pop’s matte lipstick lately but also itching to try something new – this is a great recommendation!

Happy weekend, lovely!! I’m SO behind on my blog reading / commenting, but truth be told, you haven’t missed much. I’m very mono-stupid these days (as I’ve coined it) and look forward to getting my brain back. And all the yesss, to this beautiful Chanel lipstick – it has the same ingredients as my tinted Chanel lip balm, which I bought when you were in Vancouver, and I absolutely love it!! xo

Every teenager goes through a glitter phase, the more, the better, I even was known to take a finger full of Vaseline and accent areas on my face where I would then apply loose glitter from my craft bin. It’s okay. We can distance ourselves from those crazy glitter obsessed teens and embrace the women we’ve become who understand the elegance of a subtle pink or berry.
