Growing up, Sunday was my least favourite day of the week. It meant the end of the weekend, my two days of freedom to spend with books and on projects that interested me, rather than the ones imposed by the school curriculum. It also meant family dinner, with my relatively large and always loud extended family, which felt, to my teenaged self, like a kind of torture that should have been named in a subclause of the Geneva Convention.

(That probably sounds a bit over the top, but I’m sure any of my family members who are reading this can confirm that, based on my miserable behaviour at family dinner in those years, that is exactly how I felt.)

But when I moved out on my own, I discovered that Sundays could be entirely different. Very quickly, I learned that I could make Sunday whatever I wanted it to be. And suddenly, the seventh day of the week became one I loved.

This post is not my ode to Sundays, but rather an introduction to a brand that shares my love for the quietest day of the week. Ode to Sunday is an independent Lithuanian clothing line working primarily with local, sustainable, organic resources to create beautiful, investment-worthy clothing, the production of which is both ethical and low-impact.

While I am all for investment-worthy garments, because I want to wear my clothes over and over, I have admittedly always been wary of linen. It looks effortless, but wrinkles easily. Since I flatly refuse to iron, I’ve simply stayed away, writing the fabric off out of laziness. But this summer, linen is everywhere – dresses and blazers and trousers – and I’m in love with it all. When Vaida, the owner of Ode to Sunday, reached out to me, I instantly fell for her simple designs. I want to say that it was the ethos of her socially conscious brand that pulled me, but we all know the truth: I am a fashion girl, and it will always be design that speaks to me first. As we talked about working together, I quickly realised that the hardest thing about our project would be deciding which Ode to Sunday Garments to feature.

It’s not often that I write a brand feature, because I am loyal to designers I love. A new brand needs to capture my attention absolutely in order to make its way into my wardrobe. Ode to Sunday did exactly that. But the proof truly came when I put my Uma tee and Hanna pants on for the first time. The fit was flawless, and the pieces so comfortable that I immediately told Ian, “Next year, I’m ordering another set; I’m thinking a white top and beige trousers.” And for once, he actually agreed that it would be a worthwhile investment…!

What is most notable, though, is that I did not change my mind as I wore the outfit to go about my day. Linen does not wrinkle nearly as much as I long thought. I can’t believe I went without it all these years, just because I thought it would require ironing!

I don’t expect you just to take my word for it. Which is why, in case you’re interested in trying Ode to Sunday yourself, I’ve partnered with the brand to offer a 10% discount on all orders from now through August 18, 2019. Simply use the code cocoandvera10 at checkout.

Since Ode to Sunday is a small, independent brand, this is a signifcant offering that doesn’t happen every day. The discount applies to all products, except for the Donation section, where products are already discounted. (All proceeds from orders placed in this section are donated to charity.) Note that shipping costs are paid by the buyer, but shipping is free for orders over 250 euros. Ode to Sunday makes every effort to ensure buyers do not incur additional taxes – and I can confirm that I paid none when my pieces arrived.

I love a good Sunday. And I love clothes that allow me to spend my Sundays feeling comfortable while looking stylish. For me, Ode to Sunday hits the mark on both counts.

  1. My experience with Sundays, until I also struck out on my own, was very similar to yours and now I am quite fond of the day of the week that I used to absolutely hate. I also really love your pants here – I was browsing through the company’s side and they have a lot of really lovely pieces.

  2. I’m so excited to see this outfit hit your blog. It’s so beautiful, and I love the elegant but comfy vibe of it. As for Sundays?! Always my fave… we usually do a day trip, take outfit photos, visit cute pubs / restaurants, and just focus on “us” time. It’s the best!! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!! xo

This linen set looks so effortless, and I will admit I’ve often avoided linen for the wrinkles, black tends to hide them quite well, and with the slightly slouchy silhouette, I think you can get away with the presence of a few wrinkles.

It’s the first Lithuanian brand I ever hear from, this linen outfit looks fantastic.
