Lately, I’ve spent a lot of time considering what exactly a person wears to see Britney Spears in concert. (Yep, that’s why Topher and I are headed to Vegas today…!) But my typical night out ensembles don’t involve nearly that many sequins. Actually, they don’t usually include any at all. When it comes to dressing for a night out, my fashion philosophy remains what it always is: less is more.

There are a time and place for sequins, of course. (Clearly, I think Britney Spears concerts are that time and that place.) But on a normal night out, I prefer simple, well-cut clothes. It really is a preference. Some people love to splash out on beautiful statement garments with intricate patterns, but to me, it feels much more luxurious to spend extra money on a plain dress made of high-quality silk that I can wear forever. I snapped this beauty up at & Other Stories during our 2016 trip to Berlin and, while it was an impulse purchase, it was one I’ve never regretted.

How I style the basics that fill my wardrobe changes from season to season. And city to city, too, come to think of it. In Berlin, I paired this dress with a moto jacket and ankle boots, while in Paris, I added an oversized hat and classic pumps. For my evening shoot in downtown Winnipeg with Christa Wong, I chose all of my current wardrobe favourites, including Dior-inspired pumps from Zara and marble statement earrings from Olive + Piper. This isn’t the right outfit for a Britney Spears concert – and I do promise to eventually share the one I’ve come up with for that night, since I’ve talked about it so much. But for a beautiful dinner and sunset walk, it couldn’t be more perfect.

When it comes to dressing for a night out, what’s your go-to style?

  1. That is a really stunning dress, it just exudes elegance. And I definitely agree with the philosophy of less is more when it comes to dressing, I think it always ensures a certain timelessness to things.

There’s something so Fellini-esque about this outfit and these photos. Bella!

  3. You look beautiful! But then again, you always do… I am not the embellished, sequin type either, but on New Year’s Eve, I go for it. I’m usually one of the more glittery in the place.

  4. You’re going to have a great time at the concert Cee!

Your dress! Those shoes! Those sunnies! You look simply stunning 😀

I do like your approach, and I have a great love of fabulous jewelry, which means sometimes a simple well cut dress is all you need to let your gorgeous earrings and embellished shoes shine.

Hope you had an amazing time at the concert!

Beautiful dress and pictures… for me, well for concerts in stadiums its usually jeans, a dressy shirt and bold accessories with a cross body. That’s how I went to see Aerosmith 😉 I can only imagine a performance by Britney in Vegas !!
