Hair by Fran Rizzutto
It’s hair week here on Coco & Vera. It’s not a secret that I wear the same hairstyle all the time. So, for a fun change of pace, I’ve teamed up with local stylist Fran Rizzutto to share three  fabulous – and simple – night out hair styles with you this week. Bonus: if you visit Fran at Vq Salon in Winnipeg and mention Coco & Vera, you’ll receive a free conditioning treatment!
Beach waves are the ultimate effortlessly put together hairstyle. I love curls for everyday – and I admit, I find rollers a lot easier to control than a flat iron. But curls, beautiful as they are, look like they take work to achieve, and that’s because they do. Beach waves look like they just happen. In that way, they are the perfect Parisian hairstyle (although you won’t see many beach waves in the French capital.) When I am getting ready for an evening out with one of my girlfriends, or my BFFFF, I always try to remember Garance Dore’s singular advice about getting dressed the French way: “A Parisian… dresses in her eternal outfit of jeans and high heels with her hair down. Because, really, getting dressed up means you care. She’s got better things to do.”
Styling my hair has never felt effortless. But I think the end result should look like it felt that way, no matter what the reality was. (And Garance Dore does add to her quote that, of course, the effortless Parisian hair down actually takes five hours to achieve.) Especially when I’m going out with friends. The important things about a night spent with friends are the company, the conversation and the wine. How everyone looks is secondary. That doesn’t mean I don’t spend time on planning my outfit, doing my make-up and styling my hair. I absolutely do. But I don’t want it to look that way – and beach waves are the perfect style to conceal the effort it takes to style my unruly hair.
Wine dates are my go-to when it comes to planning time with my friends. And, increasingly, I’m replacing my go-to curls with beach waves. I’m still practising creating them myself, admittedly. But progress is progress, and I’m lucky to have an awesome hairdresser to help me out.
Tell me, what’s your favourite hairstyle for a night out with friends?
I always fall back on just tossing my hair up in a ponytail or a bun…but that’s mostly because my hair is always a disaster and I am terrible at doing anything with it. It’s a bit sad really that I am so hopeless with it…I wish I could execute waves like you have. And, while we’re at it, I’d also like to get my hands on your amazing kimono.

Pumps and kimono are awsome :-*

Beach waves are so nice! I love the looseness of the curl, in comparison.

Oh I go to Vq as well and I see Angelina! Lovely hair, right now my go to is the messy mom bun/ dry shampoo combo complete with the bun hair piece. Planning on some balayage soon though despite summer being over.
Two things I love… beach waves and wine dates!! 😉 Also, as I mentioned on Insta, I’m absolutely & utterly obsessed with this outfit. Beyond gorgeous Cee! Plus excited to know you’re experimenting with beach waves because they’re absolutely beautiful on you, and it’s always so much fun to change things up. I’m currently straightening my hair because it’s something new! And entertaining a lob for fall! xo

Absolutely obsessed with your hair like this. And that kimono is on point! Beautiful all around.
I will never understand how the appearance of effortlessness could take so much effort, but I suppose it was well worth it for this look. Those heels look stunning on you, and I love seeing you in a fun floral print kimono.
