I’m not sure why it is, but I always find myself in the mood to shop when I can least afford it. This month is no exception. We bought a new home and take possession of it later this week. I’m still a full month away from going back to my day job. Not surprisingly, I don’t have a lot of money to spare for new shoes I don’t really need. But still, I want to shop. In addition to having home decor on my mind – so much so that I’m considering a special most dedicated to all of the velvet chairs I’m covetting at the moment – I can’t stop thinking about summer fashion. From stunningly simple Ancient Greek brand sandals to fabulously cheeky feminist earrings from Moorea Seal, my wishlist is as long as ever and my urge to buy absolutely everything is powerful.
So far, I’ve managed to restrain myself – and the good news is, June is nearly over. But I will admit that I have acquired one or two new pieces in the past four weeks, including a pair of Levi’s 501 skinny jeans, which I’ve already worn paired with my favourite summer sandals. I love them so much that it almost seems to justify my desire to shop, since I made such a good choice when I bought those. Silly, I know, but also totally true.
I know I’m not alone in my desire to buy things I don’t actually need. Or in feeling that despite the fact that my closet is full, my wardrobe still isn’t quite complete. So tell me, what’s on your wishlist this month?

I seem to keep an ongoing wishlist of everything I want. Some get scratched off, but others stay on. That Balmain nail lacquer looks really cool.

I do feel like my closet is full with things I’m not wearing right now. This morning I pulled out a very bright and boldly printed dress I hadn’t worn in a couple years. I’m not sure it felt like ‘me’ anymore. I feel like these days I’m dreaming of a silhouette that doesn’t exist and I need to remind myself to buy more things which flatter the shape I do indeed possess.
Shopping will always be there, the urge to possess, especially with the purchase of a new home to fill must be overwhelming. And I’d happily read a post devoted to velvet chairs. I myself had to have a velvet sofa.

I’ve honestly been such a slouch in the wardrobe department. Currently, my wardrobe revolves around 5 pieces (a black midi, maxi and jumper, plus my mom jeans & a white blouse! And have no desire to shop. What the heck’s wrong with me?!! 😉
