Pyjama dressing is exactly what it sounds like: wearing pajamas as part of your everyday wardrobe. If I had my way, I would never wear anything but pyjamas. (And fabulous shoes, of course.) When my employer offered me the chance to work from home, I jumped at it, because it meant I could spend my weekdays in loungewear. More than three years later, the appeal of wearing pyjamas on a daily basis hasn’t diminished. At all.
Admittedly, my pyjamas aren’t all stylish. Most of them, in fact, feature some kind of cartoon animal print. But I do own one incredibly elegant pair from Wear Elise. You’ve all seen them before, when I’ve styled them as traditional pyjamas. And they are the loveliest traditional pyjamas I’ve ever owned. But as far as I’m concerned, garments this beautiful deserve to be seen. Thus, I present you with my first attempt at pyjama dressing.
There is nothing revolutionary about this look. I’m not reinventing the morning outfit planning wheel. Pyjama dressing, for me, is as simple as swapping out the blouse I would have otherwise pulled from my closet for my beloved silk pyjama top. And that’s sort of the point, I think. It shouldn’t be hard to come up with outfits or experiments with new styles. Very often, all of the clothes you need to create new looks are already in your closet – or, in this case, in your pyjama drawer!
I know pyjama dressing isn’t for everyone, but for me it perfectly epitomises the kind of effortlessness that I want in my sartorial life. Tell me, though, where do you stand on wearing your pyjamas as daywear? Would you try it?
If I owned pjs that elegant then I would absolutely wear them beyond the home. Also, I love the way that you’ve styled this (the shoes were a perfect choice).

I say yes to the pj outside the home, wether a great shirt like yours or kimono robe style. I’m in.
I’ve seen ‘proper’ tops being fashioned in pajama style, so I see no difference in wearing a legitimate pj top out into the world. There is a big difference between something with a cutesty print and a lovely silk top with contrast piping. I’d probably be persuaded to wear a black nightgown with lace cap sleeves I have out into the world, with proper undergarments of course, and then it wouldn’t really be like wearing pjs.

Oy, totally late to the party on this one, it’s been a crazy week+! If you still lived in Vancouver… I’d def be visiting with an extra large bottle of wine and wearing my PJ’s for sure. I’m wiped!! And when it comes to pyjama dressing?! I’m all over it. Exactly why I love my maxi’s and jumpers right now. So comfy, but still put together! And I love how you’ve incorporated your beautiful pyjama top into an everyday look. As always, totally gorgeous lovey!! xo

Cee, you’re good! I couldn’t do it. It just looks so funny. I keep my loungwear and sleepwear at home.
