This winter, we’ve had more snow storms in Vancouver than we’ve had in the ten years I’ve lived here combined. With snow comes (slightly) colder temperatures and sunny weather, so it’s hard to complain – the alternative being bruise-coloured skies and relentless rain – but on the days when do have flurries, city life can get a bit silly. Vancouver may be in Canada, but our weather is so different from the weather in the rest of the country that we are far from prepared for even the smallest dusting of snow – and it’s never really a dusting; the snow is always heavy and wet with humidity, perfect for making snowballs but also ideal for ruining an otherwise good hair day. With all that said, there is no denying how pretty the fresh snow looks while it’s falling – I really wanted a set of pretty snowfall photos this season (while I still live in a city where falling snow doesn’t come with temperatures in the -20 Celcius range!) and, despite how impractical the whole process was, I was excited to finally get them earlier this month. With that said, now that we’ve done our snowy photoshoot, I’ll be happy not to see anymore snow until next winter!

  1. It’s always nice to be able to get at least a few snowy day photos —- even if you don’t have many other uses for snow! These shots are gorgeous.

  2. The snow was epic this year, my parents had something like 85cm out there way in Abbotsford… they’re not even that far in, or in a mountainous area. Crazy! But I couldn’t agree more, aside from the impractical nature of it all, snow does make for the loveliest photos… and for that I definitely love it. But the rest?! Not so much! The roads were treacherous and just down right dangerous!! But on a positive note, your snowy look couldn’t be more cozy & darling. Love the touches of white and LOVE that coat! xo

  3. These photos are absolutely beautiful Cee! It’s funny you’ve had so much snow, which is unusual for you – in Chicago we’ve had almost none, which is unusual for us. As pretty as snow is, it takes less than 24 hours to turn to dirty mush here, so I’m not a big fan.

Hahaha I can totally relate to the idea of “Well that was a nice snow storm, got the photos for the blog, so we can be done with the snow now right? I don’t want to dig out my car again!” Even here where we should be more than prepared, it took the cities two days to clean up the last snowfall.

But the snow photos are beautiful and fun and magical. Because snow will always be magical even when it’s a pain.
