I won’t lie – most of my fall outfits have looked like some variation of this one. We came back from ten days of summer weather in New York to grey skies and rain, which pretty much hasn’t let up since. I made a promise to myself years ago to avoid talking about the misery that is winter weather in these posts, but sometimes it just can’t be avoided; we’ve set all kinds of rain records in the past month and a half, which has not only left pretty much everything I own feeling slightly damp but has put a serious damper (ha ha ha, I’m so punny) on my level of sartorial inspiration. Most of what I’ve been wearing has a been a variation of sweater, jeans, heels, boots and bag, with the occasional scarf or coat thrown in, depending on the day. And so I’m curious, because I’m struggling to find my groove in what is normally my favourite season – how do you find inspiration for getting dressed in bad weather?
I tend to gravitate to the exact same things in really bad weather (there’s something about grey and black and boots and sweaters that just seems so appropriate for rainy days) – you’re pulling them all off really well though, it’s a sophisticated look.

I wish I had some sage advice to getting motivated to getting dressed in the rain and gloom, but I seriously do not. I’m equally as guilty of taking of massive amounts of blog time bemoaning bad weather and spending rainy weekends locked indoors.
I though proper rain gear might make a difference, but truthfully I’ve worn my rain boots once and rain coat only slightly more. When I look at other bloggers tromping around in their hunter boots I muse that I could do that, but really, where does one wear rain boots? Certainly not out to dinner, and where else am I really going?!
Haha, um yes, you’re punny… the punniest! 😉 As for uniforms?! You’re describing mine to a T, and yup, to the occasional scarf or coat! As for our weather? I hate complaining too, but oh man we’ve barely experienced fall, it’s been sooo grey & rainy that I actually get excited when the forecast says light rain. Haha! xo
My fall looks are variations of this as well – I’ve been stocking up on denim and jumpers. But it’s already freezing and I seem to have lost all motivation when it comes to fashion.
It’s hard to do so on gloomy days. Most would say add a touch of color, but that’s not always me. I love your black & grey combination Cee. I love the jeans and that grey sweater is gorgeous. Looks fab together.
