Avenue Montaigne. Just the thought of it gives me a little frisson. The avenue crosses the Champs-Elysees, but unlike the more famous street, it has retained its glamour through the years. Avenue Montaigne, easily the most expensive street in Paris, is home to the head offices of Louis Vuitton, to the luxurious Plaza Athenee hotel and to the flagship Dior boutique, among many other designer stores. It is the kind of street that is as fascinating as it is utterly intimidating; I practically feel like my paltry bank balance is pasted on my forehead when I walk down the avenue. It is the sort of place where, if you have to ask the price of something, it means you can’t afford it. I have only been on it twice – my most recent visit was doubly special, as not only did it mean catching up with my dear friend Caterina, but I also paid a visit to the Celine store, having diligently saved for months to purchase a trio bag. I admit – I was still too nervous to snap these photos outside the store, but frankly, I think they turned out better with the beautiful Arc de Triomphe in the background, anyway.
