To say that I am a notoriously fussy eater is, frankly, an understatement. There was a period of time in my childhood where I ate virtually nothing but cherry cream cheese finger sandwiches. But by the time I reached elementary school, forget getting me to eat a sandwich at all – I would only accept cereal for lunch. I eat a wide variety of foods now, just like most adults, but I still have preferences and I’m quite particular about how my food is prepared. So I think it’s a testament to how good Restaurant David Toutain truly is that I agreed to go back again, especially after last year. Once again, it was an incredibly memorable meal; the high point was rice-free truffle and butternut squash risotto. As for the low point, I’m still too traumatised to talk about the cute cuddly animal I unintentionally sampled – but that, I suppose, is all part of the adventure. And when you are in Paris, especially if you love food, Restaurant David Toutain is an adventure you won’t want to miss.
