Possible ethical concerns aside, there is nothing inherently wrong with shopping at Zara, H&M and Forever 21. Fast fashion is part of our reality; for me, it’s a little bit like a chocolate bar. I try to avoid fast fashion stores entirely, just like I try to avoid chocolate bars, because I know that once I give in to the smallest bit of desire, all is lost. I’m pleased to say that I have resisted the temptation to do any fast fashion shopping this year so far (although my attempts to resist chocolate have been a lot less successful.) I have to admit that it helps that the number of alternatives – by which I mean budget-friendly shops that sell unique and different brands that aren’t always widely available – is constantly increasing. My latest discovery is The Shopping Bag. The online shop carries a variety of fun and not likely to be found elsewhere pieces, almost all under $100 – I’m seriously lusting after this cardigan t- and, since everything is online, you can shop in the comfort of your pajama pants. (Come on – we all do it.) But to me, the best part is that I know the pieces aren’t ones that I will see on every blog I read for the next three months. Part of the fun of fashion is doing – and wearing – things that are different, I think. As long as they come in neutral colours, of course!
À part les possibles soucis éthiques, il n’y a rien à redire en achetant des fringues chez Zara, H&M et Forever 21. Fast fashion fait partie de notre réalité; pour moi, c’est un peu la même chose qu’une barre de chocolat. J’essaye d’éviter les boutiques fast fashion totalement, tout comme j’évite les barres de chocolat, car je sais que si je cède à la tentation, j’en cède carrément. Jusqu’à présent, je n’ai rien acheté chez Zara, H&M ou Forever 21 cette année (mais pour ce qui concerne le chocolat, c’est un échec total – j’en mange tous les jours.) J’avoue que le nombre de choix – c’est-à-dire des boutiques qui vendent des vêtements uniques à des prix adorables – croit continuellement. Dernièrement, je suis tombée sur The Shopping Bag, un e-shop qui offre une grande variété de vêtements qu’on ne trouvera probablement pas ailleurs, presque tout à moins de 75 euros – j’ai un gros coup de coeur pour ce gilet. Étant donné c’est un e-shop, nous pouvons tout regarder en pyjama. (Allez – je sais que vous le faites autant que moi.) Mais ce qui m’attire surtout, c’est le fait que je ne verrai pas les fringues de l’e-shop sur tous les blogs que je lise pendent les prochains trois mois. Vive la différence, je pense – à moins que les vêtements différents existent en couleurs neutres, bien sûr !
