Levi’s jacketSpotify recently (finally) came to Canada. It was my music player of choice when I lived in Paris and my time spent working at home without it has been a lot quieter. It’s interesting how different places and situations can influence the type of music you listen to – in Paris, I listened to Bastille and Lykke Li and Florence + the Machine. Since I’ve been using Spotify over the past few weeks here in Vancouver, I feel like I’m taking an audio tour through the last years of my adolescence, playing bands like Motion City Soundtrack and Crash Romeo on repeat. Every song seems to have a series of memories attached to it, some good, some bad and some just plain silly, from the last days before I left home to start the life that I’ve built for myself as my own person; that Ian and I have built together as our own little family. My husband is a pretty private person, so I don’t discuss us much on this blog – and the result is that he rarely gets as much credit as he deserves for the work he puts into making these posts come together; he takes almost all of the photos, some days more patiently than others, listening to my only vaguely clear instructions about the shots I want. And he edits them, too. All of these old songs have reminded me of where we started – and really put into perspective how far we’ve come. It was high time Ian got some recognition for that, so you can now read more about him on the About page!
Spotify est enfin arrivée au Canada. Je l’utilisais sans cesse lorsque j’habitais à Paris et mes jours de travail chez moi étaient beaucoup plus silencieux sans lui. Je trouve ça intéressant, comment des différents endroits peuvent influencer mes choix en musique – à Paris, j’écoutais Bastille et Lykke Li et Florence the Machine. Mais de retour à Vancouver, ayant retrouvé Spotify, j’ai l’impression de prendre un voyage sonore dans mon adolescence avec des groupes tel Motion City Soundtrack et Crash Romeo. Une série de souvenirs s’est attaché à chaque chanson, certains bons, certains mauvais et certains tout à fait débiles, tous datant des derniers jours avant que je suis partie de chez mes parents pour commencer ma propre vie; la vie que j’ai construite avec Ian, petite famille que nous sommes à deux. Mon mari, c’est un homme privé et donc, par respect pour lui, je discute assez peu notre vie de couple – et comme résultat, c’est rare qu’il reçoive la reconnaissance qu’il mérite pour tout le travail qu’il fait pour Coco & Vera. C’est lui qui prend toutes les photos, parfois plus patiemment que d’autres, tenant en compte mes instructions peu clair sur ce que j’envisage pour une série de photos. Et c’est lui qui les édite, aussi. Toutes ces vieilles chansons m’ont rappelé là où nous avons commencé – et combien nous avons fait du chemin depuis. C’était certainement le moment qu’Ian soit reconnu pour ses efforts et vous pouvez donc lire plus sur lui sur la page About!
