A year ago, my life was full of firsts – it was the first time I was moving to Europe on a {semi-}permanent basis and all kinds of new experiences came along with that, some of them wonderful {like my first tarte au citron at La Patisserie des Reves, for example} and some of them less so{because I admit, getting a chest x-ray at the immigration office was not what I would call a good time.} This month, it’s been all about lasts – taking those wonderful experiences and recreating them one last time before I move back to Canada. I’m eating my favourite pastries, visiting my favourite stores to make a few last minute additions to my Parisian wardrobe and, last Tuesday, we took one last train trip with SNCF, down to the Loire Valley to visit the magnificent Chateau de Chenonceau. It was, without a doubt, the most picture perfect place I’ve ever been, so pretty that it was hard to believe that the archways spanning the clear river Cher weren’t just in my imagination. It’s bittersweet to think that I won’t be planning anymore impromptu day trips in Europe for a while, but we couldn’t have picked a lovelier destination for our last adventure.
I can only imagine how bittersweet the last few days must be – revisiting some of your favourite spots is such a wonderful thing to do though (I did the same before leaving New Haven, it was my goodbye tour!). And this places looks absolutely magical.
Beautiful outfit. I have not kept up reading blogs while I was away. What is your story, how did you lead to moving to europe? And what is taking you back to Canada?
I feel like I will be missing your Pairs posts as much as you will miss being there. I have just loved seeing the city through your camera lens this past year, and I think you will be so happy that you have this blog and all the wonderful documentations of your Parisian life. Hopefully you will find yourself in Europe again soon! Chic on the Cheap
Wow that chateau is breath taking, such a pretty location! Love the skirt, it hugs your body so beautifully. I wish you nothing but the best on your new adventures!
It's been so fun to read along and follow with your adventures in Europe! I love those tulip skirts, but I feel like I'm all legs and can't pull them off without looking…a little lady of the night. You look fab as always!
Cee, I am so glad I am back to blogging because I have absolutely missed you and your blog and your lovely outfits! It is bittersweet you are leaving Paris soon, but at least you will have so many amazing memories – and now the start of a new adventure! And for all you know, you could end up right back there soon enough!
Lovely outfit. Grey and black is so pretty together. Love how you always stay true to yourself Cee! xo
Aw, great to hear you're enjoying your favourite things, as you slowly plan on making the trip back home. I'm going to miss seeing Paris on your blog, but am pretty thrilled I'll get to see YOU!! And this outfit is fabulous Cee, love the clean & modern aesthetic. Plus the pop of colour from your lipstick and necklace is just fantastic, really lends a fun element to the outfit!
Oh, I loooved the pictures! I think these are my favorite pictures here! They are amazing and you look beautiful! I loved the skirt and the shoes! Let me “correct” you in a nice way? 🙂 Not your last trip to Europe, no way! Your most recent 🙂 Yes!!!! many will soon come again! denisesplanet com
you're right, this sure is a place taken out from a fairy-tale and I'm so glad you had the opportunity to see it and experience it before leaving for Canada. gosh and I love the garden surrounding the castle. so fancy and royal. when it comes to your outfit the shape of your skirt is really cool and creates this great effect of different layers. well and I remember this necklace. it's simply adorable and perfect to add some colour to an otherwise neutral ensemble.
Reading this post is abit sad, or perhaps its your sadness that's sensing. With this month being all about 'lasts', means that you get to begin a whole new set of 'firsts' elsewhere. Not to mention, I don't doubt you'll find your way back to Paris, or at the very least somewhere in Europe, in the future. I love this skirt on you; you certainly have the legs to pull it off!!
well lades, i'd never wanna “turn back time” while visiting that wonderful location! baha! just couldn't resist a little goddess of pop for good measure 😉 who knew there was a river Cher? not i! until now that is, beautiful spot to explore and Cee you've got it all going on in these rad shots!! the perfect hip sit, nice + natural smile and the power stance all of us would want to replicate. oh and you're outfit, well…it's marvelous and then some! “last”ing moments is what and you've got a bevy of them in your arsenal for all time. xo ♥
It's a bit of a long story, honestly, but the summary is this; we packed our bags for Europe so that my husband could do a work-and-study program (he is a chef.) We hoped, hoped, hoped that this might turn into permanent employment in spite of very serious odds against non-Europeans getting jobs in Europe. Sadly, it didn't work out, so we are now home again.
Thank-you so much for all of your lovely comments, my darlings! xox, Cee
