Last week, before jetting off on our Roman holiday, we spent the day in Dijon. We left Gare de Lyon early in the morning, just in time to watch the sunrise, and arrived in Dijon a few hours later to glorious, sunny weather. We ate breakfast in Parc Darcy before setting out to explore, following the La Chouette owl markers that wind their way through town. Storm clouds followed us, and eventually rolled their way over Place des Ducs. With all the museums closed for the day, we had to seek refuge in a restaurant – so we sipped kir and ate tartines at O’Bareuzai, which was no sacrifice at all as everything was delicious. The sun finally came out again and we were able to explore the streets once walked by Burgundian dukes and kings… and of course stop for a regional snack, sable cookies and spice bread at La Rose de Vergy, before catching the train back home to Paris.
